Audi TT - 2.0 S-tronic Car Review

Overview

If the car accelerates to that speed, the spoiler comes up and into effect. Even if the driver or front seat passenger was short and had the seat pushed up all the way, this would not allow much room for back seat passenger leg space. Even if the driver did make a mistake in driving, there are plenty of things that this car has that assist with the driving on the road. Despite the steep price tag on the car, the seats are all manual except for a multi-option lumbar support.

Review

If you are driving the Audi TT 2.0, it is a guarantee that you are going to get some stares. The design of the exterior components is excellent, and there is no helping the looks that it will get-it is obvious that Audi intended to make this a desirable vehicle, and they did an outstanding job! There are not many people who would flat out not like the vehicle's look. From the tail lights to the wheel arches, the car is exudes sport and class. If you are driving the 2.0 L turbo version, there are even more features designed for aesthetics, such as the exhaust pipes.

Audi TT S-tronic front shot

One of the coolest features of the exterior is the easily hidden spoiler. I had actually never heard of this prior to this vehicle, which is probably because I just am out of the loop, but this car has a spoiler that is triggered when the car reaches a certain speed range. You can also manually operate the spoiler, but the automatic setting is really cool. If the car accelerates to that speed, the spoiler comes up and into effect. After deceleration, the spoiler goes back into its little hiding spot. There are actually three different routes you can take with the Audi TT. The bottom of the line will get you a 2.0 L engine with a six speed manual transmission costing about $68,900. Originally priced at $72,500 for the mid-range option with just the standard features and the S-tronic gearbox, there are many different options that you can add to this vehicle, such as a change in upholstery or the stereo system. In addition, you can add on a Storage Package or the Magnetic Ride. All of these things, of course, cost more money. If you chose all of the above mentioned options, that would put you at spending about $78,000. Lastly, if you have the money to afford the best of the best, top of the line vehicle in this class, you should check out the 3.2 Liter V6 engine, which will run you at least $88,900.

If you are taking this car on lots of trips, you might want to keep in mind that there is not much room in the back seat. Even though it is advertised as a car that can seat four people, it would be difficult to fit anyone other than a younger child in the backseat, especially if the front passengers had height that would require them to push back the seats. Even if the driver or front seat passenger was short and had the seat pushed up all the way, this would not allow much room for back seat passenger leg space. If the only thing you are going to be doing with this car is driving yourself and a passenger around, or if you have small children that can ride in the back seat, then the Audio TT 2.0 is a great option. If you do decide to take a road trip with minimal passengers, you will be pleasantly surprised by the room in the trunk. Sure, it does not hold as much as some other cars, but for a vehicle of its type, the trunk size is impressive. The only thing that is already in the trunk is a repair kit that has things that can assist you should your car break down or something of that nature. All in all, if you are driving with one passenger, even long distance road trips can be awesome. With only two people in the car, both people can adjust their seats to their desired position and be 100% comfortable throughout the duration of the drive, no matter how long it is. Add to that a fuel efficiency of approximately 7.7L/100KM, and you have a vehicle that will take you places without breaking your wallet.

So it has a great exterior and interior feel to it, what about how it actually performs on the road? With a 2.0 Liter, 4 cylinder engine, it definitely holds its own. No matter which version of the Audi you are driving, you will see the outstanding get up and go capability. Unfortunately, the shifting of the S-tronic leaves much to be desired in the lower gears. Nevertheless, if you put the pedal to the metal and hear the exhaust roar, there is no doubt that you will catch the eye of others as well. On its own, the car handles wonderfully. The steering is spot on, and you do not have to drastically turn the wheel to get it to do what you need it to do. The brakes also can endure quite a bit of intense, tiring driving without starting to wear out and not do their job anymore. Even if the driver did make a mistake in driving, there are plenty of things that this car has that assist with the driving on the road. First of all, the Magnetic Ride Control system gives assistance to the driver in special situations while improving the overall quality of driving and riding in the vehicle. Unlike some of the features that actually help the driver after the situation has already occurred, the MRC system works to make the drive such that there will be no problems, no matter what. With more than one mode that can be switched into, there are different options to choose from that will improve the driving in that particular situation. For example, the 'S' mode helps the car to hold gears for as long as the driver needs, which is convenient to have. The Audi TT 2.0 definitely drives well on the road and is impressive in that area, especially for a FWD vehicle.

Once you can pry yourself away from looking at the outside, it is time to sit down and drive. Do keep in mind to park with enough room for you to open the rather large door and get out with enough space and without door dinging the car next to you. Unlike other sports cars, getting in and out is not that big of a deal-it is more like getting in and out of any other vehicle-it does not seem as low to the ground in that sense. Once you sit down on the inside, the good feeling stays right along with you. With a leather sports steering wheel and leather electric sports seats, it is obvious that this car has one thing in mind-sportyness. The seats, like many other sports cars, keep you snug and hugged in no matter what type of road you are driving on-you could come around a corner as fast as you would like, and you will still be held safely in place. This is only one of the many safe features that this car is equipped with. It also comes with power steering, multiple airbags, an increased suspension, and ESP. Standard features in this vehicle include cruise control, fog lights, electric windows and locks, and more. The buyer has the option of taking out the leather seats and putting in Alcantra suede seats instead, which is almost a little more appropriate for the type of vehicle. This can also save some money on the final price. The driver will immediately see the speedometer and tachometer area, which looks great. The area has a screen that has different options to select from, such as viewing cruise control information, and looking at temperature and audio information. In addition, the temperature and audio controls are attractive, well placed, and user-friendly. Though they are tilted a little bit in the direction of the driver, they can easily be manipulated by both the driver and a front seat passenger. The audio system could not get any better-a factory BOSE sound system with a six disc CD player. Now you would expect that this means that there are no glitches with the sound, but that is not the case. There could be a little more bass coming out of those six speakers, and the overall sound was just not the quality I was expecting. The temperature system is controlled by automatic air-conditioning that can change with the direction of the sun. Despite the steep price tag on the car, the seats are all manual except for a multi-option lumbar support.

In conclusion, the Audi TT has a lot to offer. It certainly has a hefty price tag, but the fact is that there are not many Audi cars that are not a more expensive price tag, simply because they have a high quality. The design is fantastic, the seats are comfortable for both short and long drives, and the drive is smooth and error-free. There are plenty of options, both standard and additional, that make this car worth the price tag for sure. On one hand, if you need a car with space for not only luggage, but for multiple adult passengers as well, and do not really want to fork out a lot of money, then you might want to continue moving right on past the Audi TT. On the other hand, if you are looking for a car that can handle corners no matter what speed, has a fantastic interior, and have the money to afford the price, then you would seriously be doing yourself an injustice not to at least stop and have a look at this vehicle. The nice thing about this car is that you can take it a number of places and it is perfectly sufficient-if you need a car to impress people on the weekend when you go out, the Audi TT will absolutely do it. At the same time, if you need a dependable, safe vehicle to get you to and from work day in and day out, it can do that just as well. Even if you decide to not go for the additional options, you are buying into a stellar car that will last you for a long time, and you will continue to enjoying driving and riding in it for a long, long time!
