BMW Z4 Coupé - New Member of the Z Family

The Z4 has added a new member to its family and a stylish one at that. This car is not just all looks though as it has been given other perks that puts it in a class of its own. The coupe does have some fierce competitors that it will eventually have to face.

The Z4 coupe boasts the lightest engine in the world coming in at 265bhp 3.0-litre with a magnesium-alloy construction. It goes from 0 to 60 in a record time of 5.7 seconds and for those with a need for speed, the Sport button gives you a faster throttle response. It also comes with the standard six-speed manual transmission and wheel-mounted shift paddles.

The DTC dynamic traction control system is a big help for the coupe when it comes to taking on corners with its ability to ensure the back end is aligned with the rest of the body. Drivers who want to feel in control of their car can turn the system off. It should be noted that because of the Coupe's stiffer body, it gives more response to the steering input and the driver is able to derive more feel from the road.

BMW Z4 Coupe Front

The Coupe is made for two and is comfortable enough to fit both the passenger and the driver. This car is also able to go for long distance trips on roads that are well-surfaced and conditioned to suit a car of this taste. For busy cities, this car would not be the best to ride around in. The hatchback gives the car a bigger boot space that allows enough for room for a one or two large luggage pieces. Although the interior design of the car may not be as flashy as the exterior, it still feels like you are driving an expensive car.  However it's low seating position becomes a hindrance when it's dark or when it is raining heavily. There will also be problems with parking as it's hard to assess the spot with a long nose to add to the low seat.

As the Coupe is a car for the stylishly forward, the car comes in two trim levels namely SE and Sport. The Sport's edition comes with 18-inch alloys, sports seats with a sports steering wheel and of course, sports suspension. This version is expected to be the more popular amongst consumers as compared to the SE model as it adds on to the SE model. This has 17-inch alloys, leather upholstery, electric windows, a CD player and an on-board computer.

This vehicle safety features are no less impressive than its performance. There are four airbags, electronic driver aids with an anti-lock system and run-flat tyres. The Coupe is expected to do well in the EURO NCAP thanks to its harder body. The good thing about the Coupe is that it comes without the convertible roof which means one less headache for its owner. The Coupe is in need of regularly servicing schedules as it needs to be in the best care.
