Ford Escape XLT V6 4WD Review

Overview

For both in city driving and off-road driving, the Ford Escape XLT V6 is more than adequate. It is a Front Wheel Drive vehicle, but does have Four Wheel Drive that can be manually turned on and automatically becomes activated when the car needs assistance. With a 3.0Liter V6 engine, the Escape is quite pleasant to drive.

For both in city driving and off-road driving, the Ford Escape XLT V6 is more than adequate. It is best suited for on-the-road driving, so it might not be the best for the off-road. Going into intense off-roading might not be the best idea since it does not have the highest ground clearance, but if you are going into minimal off-roading situations, it will work just fine. It is a Front Wheel DriveFour Wheel Drive that can be manually turned on and automatically becomes activated when the car needs assistance. The Four Wheel drive feature can be a little dangerous at times, and needs to be used carefully. It's best to keep 4WD turned off unless you are driving in an area that requires 4WD, since it can cause issues in city driving or in inclement weather situations.

Ford Escape XLT 4WD

The outside of the Ford Escape XLT V6 is quite attractive-it has a sleek, sporty look about it that some SUVs do not have. If you have ever taken a gander at the Ford Territory, however, you will notice that certain aspects of the Ford Escape XLT V6 are quite similar in appearance, such as the type of wheels and the design of the mirrors and the door handles.

The vehicle definitely has its positive factors-it is extremely comfortably and solidly built, making it near guarantee that it will last for quite some time, and you will get your money's worth. For a person that is looking for a practical vehicle that will get them where they need to go but will also take them on trips to areas that might require some off-road driving, this is a great option. It can easily do both. If you often take road trips and don't feel like forking out a good deal of money for gas, you won't mind buying it-fuel efficiency isn't one of the strong points it has. Another one of the more negative things about the Escape is the all-too-typical dinging noise when the key is left the ignition and the door is not all the way closed. However, it can be tough to find a vehicle without this feature, so this is something you could easily live with if you are happy enough with the other features.

With a 3.0Liter V6 engine, the Escape is quite pleasant to drive. You definitely will not win any speed contests, but it is not by any means a slow car-it has an acceleration rate of 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds. Despite the fact that it is a little bit awkward through turns because of the high center of gravity, it is still a nice riding, well designed vehicle. On the other hand, if you are driving on a straight stretch, you will hardly ever see any glitches in the driving quality of the vehicle. However, like many other automatic transmission vehicles, the fuel efficiency could be better. Averaging at about 12.2-14.7L/100KM, which is not bad for the type of vehicle that it is, it could still be better. You can guarantee higher numbers if you use cruise control frequently or drive on the highway often since the automatic transmission isn't the best for shifting the four gears.

Unfortunately, the interior leaves much to be desired upon first glance. There just is not much to it. In addition, many of the controls are placed in awkward places, and there are not many features that set it apart from other vehicles. Luckily, this is not that big of a deal, and you can learn quickly how to adapt to the location of the controls. The audio system has a six disc CD player with a radio, and there are basic temperature controls. The inside has abundant room for the front seat passengers, and for small backseat passengers, but if the front seats are pushed back to their full capacity, the backseat passengers might be a little bit cramped in space. The car can fit five, but is most comfortable for longer trips with four people if the passengers are all adults/teenagers.

In conclusion, for those who are looking for a second vehicle to add to their collection that might take them on vacation or a weekend at the lake, the Ford Escape XLT V6 would make a perfect addition. It also has plenty of room for a couple with children, since the backseat has lots of space and there is room for transporting things in the back of the vehicle. This is not to say that it has to be a second vehicle or a car for couples with children-it would make a great vehicle for a single person that likes having a car that can take them to work or out with friends. Although there might be other cars out there that are equally as good, this is a great option to check out if you are in the market for this type of vehicle.
