Holden VZ Monaro
The
new Holden VZ Monaro has stirred up a bit of controversy among the car
fanatics. With the new twin bonnet scoops on the front end of the
vehicle some say its absolutely wonderful and others say that its
horrible and in bad taste. However, I feel that the new bonnet scoops
actually add a flare to the vehicle giving it a much more powerful
look. Whether its good or bad, you will definitely get peoples
attention when you drive by them. I feel that most people will
appreciate the edgy design instead of looking at it as a flaw. Aside
from the cosmetic changes, the new VZ Monaro features some great
mechanical changes as well. Given the history of the Monaro I am hoping
that this new update will do the name justice.
Once
you are inside in the Holden VZ Monaro you will be greeted with nothing
but elegance, luxury, and style. This four seated setup is not only
classy, but comfortable as well. No matter were you are sitting you are
bound to be astounded by the quality of the appearance and comfort.
This car comes with an absolutely great audio system that pushes out a
powerful 260 watts. With the use of subwoofers it takes the music
experience to another level. The clarity of the sound and the deepness
of the bass are sure to please you. The leather upholstery isn't of the
highest standards, but fits the car and should please just about
anyone. The front and rear bucket seats add a sporty feel and also help
keep you and your passengers in place so nobody is sliding around the
vehicle unnecessarily. They really become helpful when you are taking
turns and corners. A few other features that add to the sporty feel are
the polished scuff plates, volt meter, and the oil pressure gauge.
Though there are many great things about the interior there are also a
few flaws that I found with the interior of the car. One problem I
found was the decrease in trunk size. Because of the relocation of the
70 liter fuel tank, the trunk has gone from a spacious place of storage
to a tiny hole sharing its space with a 17 inch spare tire. Another
problem that I found is the electric seat adjustments. Unfortunately,
this is not a new flaw to the Monaro line of vehicles. Past models have
been known to have the same issue, which is that the seats feel like
they are a bit off and not sitting on the rails as they should. This
isn't something that affects you all the time, but being this is an old
issue I think it is time for Holden to look into the issue and fix the
problem.
Moving
on to the exterior of the Holden VZ Monaro, the shape of the Monaro is
still as good as ever and sits with a confident appearance. There are
not any flaws with the exterior proportions that I could find.
Everything appeared smooth and well built. Now I will go ahead and talk
about the obvious which would be the bonnet scoops. The bonnets are not
just for cosmetic appeal, they actually function which was a relief to
me. I have never been a fan of something that only adds a fake
appearance, and thankfully that is not the case here. What they do is
direct air out of the engine bay to help the engine work at its best.
Other than the bonnets, the front of the VZ Monaro has been revamped as
well. It now sports a larger front air dam that not only feeds a much
higher amount of air to the engine, but also looks great as well. The
vertically stacked fog lights match to the setup of the air dam and
make it look even better. Another area that has improved is the wheels.
The new VZ Monaro comes equipped with unique looking 18 inch 5 spoke
wheels giving the car more flare. The overall look of the vehicle is
quite impressive. I am definitely satisfied with how the car is holding
up its quality standards with design and functionality. Every addition
helps the vehicle progress in more ways than one and will leave a
lasting mark on drivers/buyers.
How
does the new VZ Monaro hold up on the road? Well if I were to describe
it in one word I would say 'excellent'. The feel of the car on the road
is absolutely great. The comfort of the leather bucket seats is a nice
plus for short or long trips. Aside from comfort, the new revisions the
car now has a lot of extra power pushing it. You will certainly notice
this when you take one of these vehicles out on the road. The 5.7 liter
V8 engine is quite a monster and its presence is definitely known. The
VZ Monaro gives you a pleasant drive around the city and through
neighborhoods without costing you a bundle on gas. Response time is
superb with the brakes and acceleration making corners and turns easy
to handle. The gears change smoothly and flawlessly giving you nothing
but the best driving experience. I truly have no complaints with the
drive that the Monaro gives you. I was pleased from the beginning to
the end and that's all I can ask for.
In
conclusion, the vehicle is pretty well rounded. There are a few flaws
such as the fairly small trunk, overly thirsty engine and the lack of
features in the interior. However, the VZ Monaro is a wonderful vehicle
to own for many other reasons. The drive, engine, and appearance are
all outstanding. The interior is spacious and gives you more than
enough room even for larger people. The car handles excellently with
ease and would be a great car for anyone to drive daily. I am sure the
new Monaro will please fans of the past models and also new comers as
well. The pros outweigh the cons making this vehicle a top choice for
anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle.
