Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R Turbo Diesel Truck Review
Recently
it has become pretty hard to tell the difference between a real 4WD
vehicle and those who only look like one, but are limited in what they
can do. It's certainly no surprise that manufacturers want a big piece
of this market, but unfortunately some are more concerned with pushing
out a flashy looking vehicle rather than a fully functioning off-road
beast. With that said, I was curious to see which side the Mitsubishi
Triton GLX-R Turbo Diesel would fall on. I won't leave you in any
suspense so here is the bottom line; the new Mitsubishi Triton is a
real 4WD to own. This isn't another fake vehicle to hit the market so
that is definitely good news.
The
exterior of the vehicle pretty impressive with its stylish and gallant
appearance. The curves in the vehicle are well defined and look
absolutely great. Along with the curves, this vehicle also has a very
aggressive looking front end. These two features combined give this 4WD
truck one mean look and add a nice sporty appearance to it. The
noticeable and notable features of the exterior on the GLX-R are the
following; fog lights, side steps, polished nudge bar, roll-over bar,
privacy glass, chrome mirrors, and 16 inch alloy tires sitting in color
coded wheel arches. If you want a sporty looking truck it doesn't get
any better than this. The features and appearance are up to par with
any other sports truck out there and I am very pleased with the vehicle
so far.
As
for the interior of the new Triton, there are only a few complaints I
have about it. The first complaint I have is the lack of adjustment
options. The fact that you don't even get electric driver's seat is
something that confused me. Not only do you have to live without that,
but you also have to do without the ability to manually adjust the seat
height or the reach of the steering wheel. For a truck like this I was
quite baffled and still do not understand why they left these options
out. With drivers being many different shapes and sizes I feel that it
is important to have a decent amount of adjustment options and sadly
the Triton falls short in this area. If they were to add these simple
features it would improve the driver experience greatly. My second
complaint is another mixture of little features that are nowhere to be
found. They are climate control, cruise control, and a driver's side
vanity mirror. Now the mirror is not really a big deal, however, the
other two features are used so much by drivers today that it just
doesn't make sense to release a vehicle without them. In my opinion,
these features should be considered a global standard and you should be
able to expect that these features will be in any newer vehicle at the
very least. The list of complaints with the interior comes to an end
there. Not all is lost, and actually the rest of the interior sets a
much better mood. You will find nice looking sports cloth trim
throughout the vehicle along with quite a few wonderful features such
as; electric windows, rear power window, alloy pedals, Bluetooth mobile
phone kit, leather steering wheel, leather gear knob, two air bags,
folding rear armrest, and a single CD player/radio tuner that has
enough sound quality to please just about anyone. As far as cabin space
goes, you are sure to be quite happy with what you get. You have plenty
of legroom in the front and rear for your passengers and nobody will
have to be crammed in the back in this vehicle. There is also a
generous amount of headroom available as well, which is always helpful
to those who are a bit tall. Regardless of the vast amount of space
inside the cabin, you still have plenty of cargo storage available. The
new Triton is rather roomy and very comfortable to sit and ride in.
The
drive of the new Mitsubishi Triton GLX is reasonably pleasant. The
vehicles complex suspension does its task very well and it does a good
job of giving you a pretty well balanced ride. The brakes are great as
well. The response time is good enough to keep you out of harms way in
rougher conditions. Overall quality of the ride is above average among
commercial vehicles. For this type of vehicle, I am satisfied with the
way this vehicle drives, handles, and performs our on the road.
In
conclusion, the new Triton GLX-R is worth every penny of the retail
price AUD $44,990. It is a commercial built vehicle, but you shouldn't
let that discourage you here. Although some useful features were
omitted from production, this vehicle comes with a decent amount of
other features and has a nice sporty style. The appearance of the
exterior/interior is truly excellent and nothing appears to be cheaply
made. If you are looking for a decent 4WD vehicle to get you around in
style but also have high performance standards, then this is definitely
the vehicle for you. I am sure that you won't be disappointed.
