Nissan Pulsar SSS Review and Road Test

Overview

When the Nissan Pulsar SSS was designed, they made sure to make it sporty, but maintain the practical nature of the car. Some of the other features included are the Antilock Brake System (ABS), Tilt adjustable steering wheel, CD player, keyless entry, power steering, power windows, disc brakes, and of course air conditioning.

From a price comparison perspective this car couldn't get any better. The car also has great gas mileage, making it even more worth the low price.

Details

When the Nissan Pulsar SSS was designed, they made sure to make it sporty, but maintain the practical nature of the car. Along with this, they loaded they vehicle with tons of great features to help it compete with other cars of this style. Once you enter the vehicle you will immediately notice a few interior improvements such as the leather steering wheel, leather gear knob, and sports bucket seats. As you sit in the bucket seats you will see that you are sitting pretty close to the ground, which is to be expected in any car that has this type of seating. With the steering wheel being adjustable and a well aligned setup, this is very easy to get used to. From this view you will notice the white gauges, which are a nice addition and compliment the sporty feel of the car. Some of the other features included are the Antilock Brake System (ABS), Tilt adjustable steering wheel, CD player, keyless entry, power steering, power windows, disc brakes, and of course air conditioning.

The Nissan Pulsar SSS, at first glance, is a nice change from the usual pulsar series that you would normally see. When Nissan made this model, it's obvious that they were going for a nice sporty look for this popular 4 cylinder vehicle. As always the racks on the roof of the car are optional, which is nice since many do not need this feature. Some of the more noticeable cosmetic changes from the outside are the 15 inch alloy wheels, body colored bumpers, chrome tipped exhaust, and the spoiler. You probably wouldn't expect to see a Pulsar with these features, but it actually turned out looking good. The overall look of the exterior is impressive, although the rear end could have used a few more minor improvements.

Inside of the Pulsar SSS you will see that it has a monochrome color scheme. While this may seem plain, it actually blends very well with the leather and other features of the interior. You won't be disappointed once you see it. The car is quite roomy and can seat up to 5 adult passengers, without any problems. Also, the seats in the back can be completely folded down to provide optimal space for storage. This feature accompanied with the fact that this car is a hatchback can be very convenient when hauling larger things.

From a price comparison perspective this car couldn't get any better. When this vehicle first hit the market is was starting out as low as $24,990. This guaranteed the Pulsar SSS success by setting a price almost $10,000 cheaper than its competitors. With that said, this car was definitely worth a second look. Today you can own a used one for about $10,000-$12,000 depending on the condition of the car.

The engine used in this vehicle is the 2.0 liter SR20, which has already been proven reliable through other Nissan vehicles. Since the car only weighs 1142kg it has a considerable amount power, even though it lacks a turbo feature. There are of course better and more powerful engines out there, but this one really suits the Pulsar SSS very well. If you are looking for a car that will go from zero to sixty in only a few seconds then this isn't the right car for you. Otherwise, you will be completely satisfied with the power this engine gives you.

Overall, this car would be a great one to own for many reasons. With fast acting brakes, air bags, and flawless handling you can be sure that you have safety on your side. When driving the Nissan Pulsar SSS it doesn't matter if you are simply driving down the road or to a much further destination. The seats have built in lumbar support to provide you with a smooth and comfortable ride. The car also has great gas mileage, making it even more worth the low price. Nissan definitely knew what they were doing when they made this vehicle and achieved everything they had hoped for.
