Peugeot 307 Touring HDi Car Review Overview
If you are looking for a well built and solid vehicle, then the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi is definitely not the car for you. The starting price of the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi is set at $33,990. Features that are included in this price are dual front airbags, dual climate controlled air-conditioning, Antilock Brakes System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), cruise control, 16 inch allow wheels, power mirrors, power windows, power steering, 6 speaker system with CD player, trip computer, traction control, and a few other basic features. Details The Peugeot name is well known for its success with Diesel engines and has received praise and recognition for it all around the world. With that said, I had pretty big expectations for the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi before even seeing it. Once I took a look at the car I wasn't exactly wowed by its appearance. It looks rather plain and quite conservative. If you were to compare it against any other car, the other car would almost always win if you were to judge by the exterior alone. It just doesn't have anything that makes it stand out above the rest and unfortunately the interior is nothing special either.
If you are looking for a well built and solid vehicle, then the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi is definitely not the car for you. Many of the panels appear to be cheaply made and have a hollow sound to them if you were to tap against them. At this rate, this vehicle was digging a large hole filled with problems. I don't think you would have to worry about this car falling apart or anything, but the build of the Peugeot 307 could have been perfected a bit before its release. Inside the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi you will be just as disappointed as you were standing outside. To best describe it, it's simple, plain, and boring. There is so much more that could have been done to improve the look of this car. They left out anything that could have possibly added a flare to the car and used nothing but dull colors for the interior. The steering wheel was one good thing that I did find thankfully. It is a decent size and fits your hands to it nice and snug. The radio and cruise controls are within a reasonable reach and are very easy to use. Though it may appear somewhat cheaply made, the radio displayed streamed slogans and song titles from stations that were compatible to do so. I thought that was a pretty cool feature to have, but the radio also displayed the fuel economy and trip information just by pressing a button making even more impressive. The speedometer and tachometer are located in a great spot and are very easy to read so you won't have to take your eyes off of the road for very long. With a poor build and a not so snazzy look, the Peugeot was beginning to sink further and further away from its competition. The engine under the hood has a 2 liter displacement and produces a very decent amount of power and torque for a Diesel. The vehicle has good acceleration speeds with official statistics suggesting you could go from 0 to 100 in about 9.8 seconds. This is finally something to be satisfied with on the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi. If you are lucky enough to not experience the problems mentioned above, then the Peugeot actually handles quite well. The tires have no problem keeping their traction on the road, and make taking corners a lot of fun. The gearbox is one thing on this car that isn't full of flaws. It shifts tightly and provides smooth transmissions while going through the cogs. The starting price of the Peugeot 307 Touring HDi is set at $33,990. Features that are included in this price are dual front airbags, dual climate controlled air-conditioning, Antilock Brakes System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), cruise control, 16 inch allow wheels, power mirrors, power windows, power steering, 6 speaker system with CD player, trip computer, traction control, and a few other basic features. There is another major flaw with the Peugeot 307 that hasn't been discussed yet and it is probably the flaw that is in most need of being fixed. When you first get in the car and attempt to start it up, you will sometimes find yourself stalling over and over. How can you get around this? Well, there is no way around it and your only options here are to continue to try it until it finally starts successfully. Though this is more annoying and somewhat embarrassing than dangerous, that's not the only time it can happen. There have been reports of people who were driving it and experienced stalls while coming around corners. This is especially dangerous since you lose all power steering and are forced in to a potentially dangerous situation. In conclusion, the asking price is very decent for the amount of features you get. At the same time, the car is extremely boring when it comes to style and is not a very well built vehicle. With all the problems that come along with the engine and other areas of the car, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this vehicle. Some of the flaws are cosmetic of course, but the trouble with the engine is just something I am not willing to deal with when purchasing a new car. The engine could be worked on and fixed up, but who wants to do that with a brand new car? If you don't mind the dull and boring looks and the quality of the build doesn't bother you, then sure go for it. Otherwise, I would stay away from this car until they address and fix some of the issues that come along with it. |
