Renault Mégane Sport 225
In
today's time the high-performance three-door automobile is becoming
more and more popular. Known commonly as the hot hatch, these cars have
been pleasing drivers for quite some time. There are many perks to
owning a hot hatch style vehicle. They are relatively small which makes
it easy to park; they are quite sparing on gas, and have great
performance. Above all though, they are priced well making them rather
affordable. The only downfall really is the fact that you don't exactly
have the most space in the vehicle. Since they are such compact cars
this of course limits the size of the interior to some degree. However,
the size has been expanding in the newer vehicles. With the increase in
technology and manufacturers being able to make smaller parts this
allows more room to expand the interiors space.
The
exterior of the standard Renault Mégane is a rather strange looking
vehicle, and that's giving it a little too much credit in my opinion.
If you look to the rear of the vehicle you will surely know why I say
this. The rear end is horrible looking and has gathered a lot of
negative attention. On a plus side though, the Mégane Sport 225 does
look a bit better. This is due to the model being much lower to the
ground; 18 inch multi spoke alloy wheels, and a better body kit that
improves its presence on the road. These additions make a world of
difference to the vehicle and help it not look as weird as the
standard. The body kit consists of front/rear aprons and side skirts.
The front end has a nice sporty look and the front mounted air-to-air
intercooler helps please the more hardcore drivers.
The
interior of the Renault Mégane Sport 225 is pretty nice looking as
well. One of the less noticeable but nice feature that was added is the
numerals located on the tachometer. You will notice that the numerals
increase in size as the numbers get larger. This is of course not a
ground breaking feature but it is actually a really cool feature and
fits the car very well. The sporty hand stitched leather seats in the
vehicle look great and are of an average quality. They do a good job of
holding the driver and passengers in place against the G-forces that
arise when doing some rough and tough driving. The overall size of the
interior is decent but flawed on many levels. The roof is pretty low
making it hard on taller individuals to sit comfortably. The back seat
is also quite limited on space, but if you are able to adjust the front
seats and move them forward a bit this shouldn't be that big of an
issue. However, one space that isn't stressed for room is the trunk. It
is of a decent size by itself but if you fold down the back seats you
will find that you have tons of room to store your stuff. The steering
wheel is nice and small, giving a very sporty feel to it. On the
steering wheel you can find cruise controls that are easy to use and
easy to get to. One of the great features of the steering wheel is that
is has two different sensitivity settings. The first setting is for
faster maneuvering to help with tasks such as parking. The second
setting is used for faster cornering and helps you with the obvious,
taking turns quicker. Other than that the steering wheel is reach and
tilt adjustable which is always helpful.
On
the road the Mégane Sport does the job very well. Instead of starting
the car up the traditional way you use a keycard system. The keycard is
around the same size of a credit card, but a little bit thicker. You
place the key in a slot located in the center console and then simply
hit the starter button. After hitting the starter button the engine
comes to life and is definitely not shy about letting you hear it. The
car has great performance on the road and as with most hatchback
vehicles this is to be expected. The clutch works perfectly and the
6-speed manual transmission is a breeze to use without any problems
arising. If you were to judge this car only by its driving it would
near the best of the best.
Although
the Renault Mégane Sport 225 is quite a bit more expensive than its
competitors, this can be attributed to the top of line features that
are included with it. It has climate controlled air conditioning, 6
speak CD audio system, rain sensing windshield wipers, and an
impressive eight airbags to help improve its safety rating. You will of
course also see the usual basic features such as illuminated vanity
mirrors, trip computer, and eight different cup holders. All of these
features are great for this type of vehicle and I think it is safe to
say you won't have to worry about running out of room for drinks while
on the road!
In
conclusion, there are a lot of reasons that make this car worth your
while. Not only is it economical and priced for just about anyone to
afford, but you also get a great car that is extremely powerful and
easy to drive. The downside however is the appearance of the exterior.
For some this will certainly be a deal breaker since when you see
people on the street talking about it, there is usually nothing
positive coming out of their mouths. The appearance of a car
unfortunately means a lot to most buyers and drivers out there.
However, you may be able to overlook this design or you may even like
it. If that is the case then you will be getting a wonderful car with
some modern features. If you are going to get a Mégane then I would
recommend the Sport 225 over the standard any day. With the bonus of
features mixed with the overall performance of the vehicle this proves
to be a good car to purchase if you are looking for your next hatchback.
