Toyota Kluger CVX 4WD Review

If you are a fan of off-road vehicles then I believe I have quite a treat for you. What is the treat I speak of? It would of course have to be the Toyota Kluger CVX. Though in the past most crossover vehicles have a very vague line between a regular on road car and an off-road vehicle, the new Toyota Kluger CVX goes beyond the limits even more. Built as an offspring of the Lexus RX330 the style of this new vehicle goes further than just looks. Not only do you get the feel of luxury and true on-road performance, but this is combined with an off-road vehicle. You will be able to take the new Kluger CVX through winding and weaving roads without a problem in the world. In fact, you may not even realize you are in an off-road vehicle until you get out. I was very impressed with the way this vehicle made use of both sides that other crossover vehicles have claimed to do in the past. This has to be at least one of the top, if not the top, crossover vehicles available at this time. I realize that many of you may need some more convincing due to experiences with past crossover vehicles. Not a problem! Just keep reading and I will tell you why I think this vehicle is worth your time and worth your dime.

When you think of a vehicle that blends on-road and off-road attributes you normally are not picturing an extremely attractive vehicle. That is not the case with the Kluger CVX. The interior and exterior both look great and there are not any flaws that I could find. The exterior is conventionally designed so when you walk by it you won't notice it as something that stands out above the rest. At the same time, however, the vehicle is very good-looking. The proportions are excellent along with the multi-reflector headlights, roof rails, beautifully accented wheel arches, rear privacy glass, fog lights, 225/70 tires, and 16 inch alloy wheels. It only takes one look at this vehicle to realize that the build quality of this vehicle is superb and held to very high standards. The paint finish on the vehicle is also exceptional but the good qualities do not stop there. If you take a peek inside the vehicle there are even more great things that are waiting to be seen.

Toyota Kluger CVX

If I were to sum up the interior of the Toyota Kluger CVX in one word it would be outstanding. You are able to enjoy high quality, comfort, and flexibility without sacrificing something else to achieve them. As you enter the interior of the vehicle you will notice the wonderful fabrics that are used. They fit the vehicle very well and it is sure to please anyone who enters. The Kluger has the ability to hold up to seven people throughout three rows that are available. In the front you are able to enjoy two bucket seats, in the middle you have a three-seater row, and in the third row there is a foldout two-seater. Although the two front rows offer a spacious area that is easy to be comfortable in, the third row is rather small and appears to be intended to best fit children. The third row is a perfect option for toting the family around or taking home a carpool of your children's friends. However, if you do not have any children then you most likely won't find yourself using this third row very often. On a quick safety note, all of the seven seating positions have a 3-point seatbelt and an adjustable head restraint, but the child restraint anchorages can only be found in the second seat row. I have no idea why they only made the child restraints available on the second row, but this should not pose to big of a problem. All of the seats are trimmed with quality leather and any passengers are able to enjoy remarkably low NVH levels, which is another feature that made its way over from the Lexus RX330. The only complaint I have about this would be the infrequent but occasional in-cabin exhaust. Now lets move on to the features this vehicle or as I like to call them "the goodies". The Kluger CVX comes very well equipped with many features without drawing any unnecessary attention. The list of features that come as a standard are as follow; power front seats along with fold-down center armrests, trip computer, power windows, remote central locking, power mirrors, auto-off headlights, cruise control, immobilizer, rear seat heater, and a very easy to use digital climate control system. The features do not stop there, you also get 35w x 4 amplifiers hooked up to 6 different speakers. You can play your favorite tunes through the double-DIN radio tuner/cassette/6 Disc CD-Player that pushes out high quality music with great clarity.

As far as safety goes the Kluger CVX certainly does not fall short on this area either. You will get front seatbelt pre-tensioners, force limiters, and twin airbags as a standard. An optional safety pack is available as well with the CVX. With this option you will receive front and rear curtain airbags along with front side airbags. In total, this safety package adds an additional 8 airbags to the original count. The safety spreads throughout the body of the vehicle thanks to high strength steel that is used and incorporates a firm safety cell to provide top notch impact safety. You can rest at ease that you are about as safe as you can get in this vehicle.

Overall the Toyota Kluger CVX really offers a lot to the plate and at a decent asking price. For all the features and benefits you receive the price of $48,990 is more than reasonable. If you wish to add the optional safety package you will be paying $51,190, which is only $2200 more than the base price. Personally, I would add the safety package in a heartbeat because I feel that it would almost be a mistake to pass it up at such a good price. In the end it comes down to whether you are looking for this type of vehicle or not. If you want a high quality crossover vehicle that flawlessly combines on-road performance with classy style then you should not look any further because this is it. However, if you are looking for a more rugged vehicle you may want to pass this up as a purchase. It comes down to what you are looking for, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is one of the most impressive crossover vehicles to hit the market.
